Georgia 372 & Georgia 5 Business

The northern reaches of Georgia 372 overlap with Georgia Business 5 through the community of Ball Ground. The 3.4-mile overlap features a 1.7-mile freeway alignment between Interstate 575 and Georgia 5 southward to Canton Highway. This four-lane expressway includes a folded diamond interchange at the south end with a freeway stub. The north end exists as an at-grade intersection with the north end of Interstate 575.

Notably, the business Georgia 5 shield as depicted above is accurate. While many of the green guide signs use an abbreviation "BUS" for business route, shields typically have "BUSS" for business route.

Georgia 372 North
The northern terminus of Georgia 372 coincides with the north end of both Interstate 575 and Georgia Business 5. Ahead is the merge onto Georgia 5 and 515 (Appalachian Thruway) northbound toward the town of Jasper (pop. 2,167). Photo taken 08/22/03.
Georgia 372 South
One-half mile guide sign for the south end of the Georgia 5 Business and Georgia 372 freeway. The highways turn southward along Canton Road at the end of the off-ramp ahead. Canton Road enters the folded diamond interchange from the town of Nelson (pop. 626) to the north. Photo taken 08/22/03.
The short Georgia 5 Business and Georgia 372 freeway draws to a close at a freeway stub. It is unclear as to what extension, if any, was planned for this limited access highway. Photo taken 08/22/03.
A closer look at the unused pavement of the stub end. Georgia 5 Business and Georgia 372 turn southward along the Canton Highway into the village of Ball Ground (pop. 730). There the two highways part ways with Georgia 372 sinking southeasterly toward Alpharetta (pop. 34,854). Photo taken 08/22/03.
