Interstate 20

Interstate 20 cuts a 200 mile path across northern Georgia serving both Atlanta and Augusta. The highway also links north Georgia to other southern cities such as Columbia, Birmingham, and Jackson. From milepost 24 to 92, Interstate 20 carries at least six lanes of travel within the metro area of Atlanta. Near downtown, this number swells to 12 lanes, including an HOV Lane in each direction.
Near the state line with Alabama, and from the metro east to Augusta, Interstate 20 carries four lanes with 70 mph speed limits through forested settings. The speed limit drops in the Augusta area to 55, with four to six lanes of travel.
