The highway continues north from there with U.S. 401 to Society Hill and junction U.S. 15. Southward, U.S. 52 meets U.S. 76 and 301 in downtown Florence via Irby Street. South Carolina 327 begins at the Exit 170 interchange with State Secondary Road 2-24 and heads south five miles to junction U.S. 76 & 301 east of Florence. The state road acts as a four-lane bypass around Florence for travelers destined to Myrtle Beach and the Atlantic Coast. South Carolina 38 comprises as a fairly new four-lane highway between Marion and Interstate 95 at Exit 181. The state road also sees interchanges with U.S. 301 and its end at U.S. 501 near Marion. U.S. 501 continues the expressway southward around Marion to junction U.S. 501 Business (South Main Street), a route designed to facilitate interests to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. A recent expansion project (2005) upgraded the Exit 181 diamond interchange into a six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange. A diamond interchange joins Interstate 95 with South Carolina 9 & 57 at Exit 193. The overlapped highways head two miles north to Little Rock and their split. From there South Carolina 57 heads nine miles north into North Carolina while South Carolina 9 continues along the northern reaches of the state to Clio, Bennettsville, Cheraw, and eventually the mountainous Upstate. Interstate 95 enters its final mile of Palmetto State one mile south of junction U.S. 301 & 501 (Exit 1). The Exit 1 partial-cloverleaf interchange lies along the state line with North Carolina at the South of the Border tourist attraction. Begun in 1950, the tourist attraction amused and entertained weary drivers for years with catchy and animated billboards along Interstate 95 in locations as far north as Philadelphia.
