First westbound U.S. 190 shield in the swampy areas of southeastern Saint Tammany Parish. Situated to the right was a small rest area/Louisiana welcome pavilion. The Mississippi state line is not far to the east along U.S. 90. Slidell is roughly six miles ahead. The Interstate 12/U.S. 190 interchange is a directional cloverleaf with high speed ramps from U.S. 190 west to Interstate 12 west and Interstate 12 east to U.S. 190 west. All Interstate 12 traffic exits U.S. 190 at this sign bridge as U.S. 190 continues north to Covington (pop. 8,483). This suite of photos displays U.S. 190 westbound at the Mississippi River Bridge between Baton Rouge and Port Allen. A Union Pacific Railroad line shares the bridge with four overall travel lanes.
